Court Security

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office employs sworn deputies to provide law enforcement and security services for all employees working within the Pottawattamie County Courthouse and the citizens of Pottawattamie County who are utilizing those services.

Deputies

Deputies assist civilian front entry security screeners with the following duties: X-ray scanning and walk-through metal detection screening for all individuals entering the courthouse. This includes interception of weapons, prohibited items, and awareness of potential threats throughout the Pottawattamie County Courthouse.

In addition to the front security post, Deputies patrol the five additional floors of the courthouse to effect arrests and provide security for court hearings and trials in eight courtrooms, as well as monitor the exterior areas of the Pottawattamie County courthouse campus. This division also handles all fugitive extradition and prisoner transports.
